24/7 mobilization. No delays, no excuses.

When a water main breaks or a sewer line collapses, every minute of delay translates directly into property damage, service disruption, and liability. ELM Company operates a true 24/7 emergency response — not an answering service, not a callback queue. A decision-maker answers the phone, and our crews mobilize immediately.

Our emergency water and sewer response capability is built on three foundations: speed, equipment depth, and direct municipal coordination. We maintain a fleet of commercial-grade excavators, vacuum excavation units, and support equipment staged for rapid deployment across Greater Boston and all of New England. When a water main fails at 2AM in January, we are on site.

What We Handle

We manage the full scope of water and sewer main emergencies — from the initial emergency response and isolation of the failure, through safe excavation around active utilities, to complete pipe replacement and service restoration. Our work includes emergency sewer main collapses, water main breaks of all sizes, full sewer main rehabilitation, lateral repairs, and direct coordination with municipal water and sewer departments including the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC).

We are a licensed Municipal Drain Layer in Massachusetts, which means we are legally authorized to perform the work that most contractors cannot touch. Our USDOT #4031037 active carrier status and OSHA-certified crews meet every credential requirement for municipal and institutional clients.

The Process

When you call ELM for an emergency water or sewer repair, here is exactly what happens: we assess the situation over the phone to mobilize the right equipment, dispatch immediately, establish a safe work zone upon arrival, use vacuum excavation where necessary to safely expose the failure without damaging adjacent utilities, execute the repair using commercial-grade materials, coordinate with the relevant municipal authority for service restoration, and restore the surface to pre-failure condition.

There is no corporate chain of command slowing the decision. The person who answers the phone is the person who runs the job.
